The College of Engineering's renovated research labs, new main entrance, socialization spaces and other improvements aim to boost recruitment of the best faculty, staff and students.

žžƵ collaborated with the UNL College of Engineering and HOK on this project, which consists of a new 90,000 SF lab addition housing Laser, Bioscience, Material Science and Computational research labs along with new east and west entrances. A new front entrance along 16th Street was created along with new socialization spaces that help to re-brand the look of the facility in the interest of recruiting the best faculty and students. Renovation of the existing Scott Engineering Center updated existing civil, chemical and electrical/computer labs along with replacing building systems and finishes - all while the building stayed occupied. The phased renovation project involved various research labs including Material Science (High Bay), Mechanical Design, Laser and Electrical.

The renovation also created new departmental offices for the Civil and Electrical departments including collaboration and graduate student spaces. To meet the needs of the new program as well as address building deficiencies, the project replaced all building systems and updated the facility to meet current building codes and ADA guidelines.
